Oh come on! I bet there's lots of riders out there who can write and also have the skill to ride in Cali without killing themselves. Maybe it's time to find a new intern and cut your losses!

Maybe I was a little hard on the young whipersnapper in my first post. Instead, rather than firing the poor lad, maybe you should make him take the gammut of MSF courses and then write an article about his experience. He might even learn something!

In defense of Dorothy

I maintain that Dottie is worth every penny we are paying him. So far we bought him one burrito worth approximately $2 and he's provided at least that much in comic relief. The crash du jour act is getting a bit tired though. If he doesn't come up with a new schtick soon he may have to start buying his own lunch.

I am holding judgement on the poor lad since I've locked my front brake twice. Once in practice and once on the street with my head up my arse. It would be interesting to see if he had training or an MSF course and if he hasn't, he should go through all the training and document how much he learned, a changed confidence level or if squat happened. A young Josh Norem (of motorcyclist magazine) had the same accident as Timmy's first and wrote of his changed perceptions of riding but I dont think he did the follow up of the MSF courses (since I canceled my subscription I'm not sure).

In my experience, I have seen people get better from these mistakes or drop out of riding all together swearing off "murdercycles" for good. I hope Timmy gets educated, doesn't get complacent, and rides like the wind.

I forgot to ask, would a Concours or used VFR have pitched him further? Or was the SV pissed about JB's scaithing comparison hence making this Burnsie's fault after all.

You don't fool me. This guy's riding abilities prove that "Tommy Topsides" is just an alias.

His real name is KPaulKook.

What are you guys doing to poor Timmy? The kid shows up unscathed and proceeds to take a couple dumpers right after he shows up. Somebody slip some silly sauce in his milkshakes?

To a Riding Class! Go!

OK, well someone needs to get Mr. Youthful Exuberance to a riding or safety class.

Yes, there is an element of comedy with the Midwest kid-beat-up-by-LA routine, but let's remember that he's not riding on a dirt track. The stakes are high in the street riding game and if young Timmy is Morris the Cat, he's quickly burning many of his valuable Nine Lives.

There are plenty of riding veterans on this site, but I'm sure there are also many newbies who could benefit from some updates on Timmy's learning process. Then, the grizzled and more experienced among us could drive the message home through dicussion boards.

Lastly, to make sure that Timmy really gets it, I suggest that you change the MO domain from his "crazybike" email address to getyourheadoutofyourass.com!
