Top O' the Pass.....

Took a ride up to the top of Chinook Pass yesterday evening on the trusty Bonnie. Beautifull up there but still about a 1000 below zero or so it seemed. At the very top (5400 ft.) there's still quite a bit of snow but the road is clear, at one point I was riding alongside snow banks up over my head, I could feel the cold coming off them. Wish I'd have took a camera. 410 is open all the way to Yakima but sr 123 will be closed all year from storm damage.

It's a nice loop over 410 to Yakima, up Bluett Pass to I-90 or further up to Wenatchee and back over hwy 2 to the wet side.

Yep I took Chinook pass to Yakima.. but I took the freeway to Ellensburg.. I'll try Bluett Pass next time thanks for the tip. WA is a very beautiful state..oops I shouldn't say that.
Good deal. Everybody go to Seattle for the great riding. Sarnali will provide the beer
I did mention all the State Patrols and Park Rangers writing out tickets for 1 mile over the 20 mph limit, sleep apnea suffering retires in Winnibago's, kamikazi deer and elk every dozen yards and the rain right? and gas is $7.88 per gallon.....

Yeah, c'mon up it's really nice at least a couple of days a year

And you forgot to mention that it was raining the whole time and there were earthquakes and volcanos erupting the whole time.
Just wanted to see if my avatar worked OK. It is winter here, rainy and cold, so this is the only way to look at my bike with love! Hope it is dry next weekend, as we have a ride on through the hills that I can report on in this forum if it all works out.

That's sort of how I remember it from when I lived in WA. 'Cept for the rain. And the earthquakes. But then, I lived in Kennewick. I do remember the big blast in May of 80.

The last time I was in WA state was just mere months before St. Helens blew. I remember looking at the Mountain as my plane was circling, waiting for landing clearance at Portland, and commented on how it looked like an icecream cone.

I think I was Nine at the time.

My high school diploma was nine when you were born. :-(

I heard it blow. I was about 150 miles away as the crow flies. My daughter asked "What was that Daddy?" I told her it was an airplane breaking the sound barrier. It was hours later when I found out what it was.
