A couple of years ago I found a website for a company that was refurbishing old Norton Commandos. They were apparently doing a top-notch job; no Lucas (Prince of Darkness) electrics, no Amal carbs, all of the weak and troublesome engine parts (like the magic disappearing valve retainers) replaced with newly machined parts, improved clutches, etc.



They were pricey but, having ridden a Norton Commando I can attest to the excellent handling and incredible engine. I don't know if they are still in business because I couldn't find the website just now.



Still, there could be a nich niche market for someone willing to go for it. I doubt the Japanese will try with the recent sales failure of the W650.
