Versys or ZX-6R

I am buying a new bike next week. I currently have a 2006 DRZ-400SM, a 2003 ZX-636-R Track bike, and a Little Ninja 250 for corner carving. I am buying a bike that is going to be used for my 35 mile commute to work, riding with friends who own a Benlli TNT and a GSXR-750, and just occassionally getting lost in the backroads with my girlfriend on the back. I am between a 2008 Kawasaki Versys and a leftover 2007 Kawasaki ZX-6R. So far the pros and cons are pretty straight forward. The Versys will be a better commuter, more comfortable, better passenger ability. While the ZX-6R would have the advantage of outright performance, though sacrifice most comfort.

I need some input from everyone else?????

This post confuses me. If you already have a 636r track bike and a 250 ninja, I would think the Versys would be the choice as the 6R would be pretty close to your track bike. That and you mention back roads, commuting and passenger comfort. Seems like the Versys would do all this and add some diversity to your garage.
The Versys is probably a pretty good choice, but may I suggest a FZ6. It's a great commuting tool and has enough motor to be fun in the twisties. The original R6 motor puts 99 hp out "at the crank". So it should wind up putting around 85hp to the ground. That's pretty good out of a middle weight UJM. The other suggestion would be to get a BMW F800GS- Middle weight Adventure touring without the excess weight.
my 03 636 is a Track Bike, no lights, no electronics, Race Only!! I need a street bike and the new 6R is VERY different from my old one, completely different seating position, different engine, etc.

I like the Yamaha, but have rode my friends and its very buzzy at highway speeds. The BMW is out of my price range as both of what I am looking at I am able to get OTD around $7k. Also, I would like to stay with Kawi as I get alot of factory support for my race bike.

All I can say is the Versys is a fine bike. The ZX6 is a great bike, but as a commuter I don't think so. Really, you got the track thing handled so I'd get the KLR so I could romp around on fire roads. Not that "Shiny new" bike but the old KLR. Cheap to buy, operate and insure.
How important is the girlfriend on the back? If it's very important, she's going to be happier on the Versys. I haven't ridden the current ZX6, but had one a few years ago and my wife wouldn't do more than 20 miles on the damn thing. If it's less important and handling takes precedence over comfort, the get the ZX6. If it was me I'd rather commute on the Versys. The other option is to swindle your friend out of the Benelli and ride that, sweet bike.
The Versys sounds like the bike to get if it's between these two bikes. However, the Ninja 650R has a little bit more top end than the Versys, and it's even a few hundred dollars cheaper, so maybe that would be the way to go. You could also look at a used Z750S.
