1- hope all you guys keep your jobs

2- will this affect our membership

3- are they going to screw up the format? I like the way it is now.

4- can the regular players in the forums get cool new jobs with the much bigger "new" owners.

Just wondering where we apply for jobs since MO has all this extra cash on hand.

Hope this was an anticipated buyout. If so, great. Capitalism is wonderful. If it was hostile- hope is lost and screw the new guys.

Congratulations, I love Canada by the way..

"Our automotive, sports, and consumer technology enthusiast offerings target the elusive 18-34 year old male. Our network of websites and magazines attract one of the largest audiences of young males on the Internet and in print." from <a href="http://www.verticalscope.com/aboutus/index.html">Company profile</a

Awesome Gen X and Y. My wife would say I am in the Gen Y...i.e. she has 3 kids. Seriously, I think Vertical Scope is smart and forward thinking for doing that.

I don't know. This seems to be their only pay site (unless I missed something). The only way they could justify it is by either raising it minimally to something like $19.95 or by increasing the content.

What I do see is an increase in ad revenue since they probably have a large sales staff with an already large base of advertisers.

So, you might see a few more ads.

Or I could be completely wrong and have no idea what I'm talking about...

The more ads you sell the lower the subscription fees. Marketing 101...

As I was once told by an unnamed source "the magazine makes very little in the way of revenue from subscriptions- it's all ad money that drives the magazine."

In short, if they get sales geeks to actually sell it"s possible the subcription will go down in price.

Remember, I said possible- yeah, right.

More snowmobile reviews, eh ?

PLEASE don't mess with the "Bikes" archive of old reviews. I consult it all the time. Do please update some of those old links on the home page. Maybe this will make MO even more international in flavor ?

Can we expect some Rupert Murdoch style stories like "Alien Baby Lives In My Tank Bag" ?

Is this place going to be like the gym on January 1st with 300 new member that hang around for two weeks and quit?

I really hope the format does not change from a community to a metropolis.

--Channeling The Squid today? :)

But that is why I said either/or.

And yes, Magazines usually make very little to nothing off of the sticker price. The just want large circulation numbers to charge larger ad fees...which is why you occasionally hear about newspapers stretching their numbers.

...and I prefer the term Saleshole over sales geek...
