"Our automotive, sports, and consumer technology enthusiast offerings target the elusive 18-34 year old male. Our network of websites and magazines attract one of the largest audiences of young males on the Internet and in print." from <a href="http://www.verticalscope.com/aboutus/index.html">Company profile</a
Awesome Gen X and Y. My wife would say I am in the Gen Y...i.e. she has 3 kids. Seriously, I think Vertical Scope is smart and forward thinking for doing that.
I don't know. This seems to be their only pay site (unless I missed something). The only way they could justify it is by either raising it minimally to something like $19.95 or by increasing the content.
What I do see is an increase in ad revenue since they probably have a large sales staff with an already large base of advertisers.
So, you might see a few more ads.
Or I could be completely wrong and have no idea what I'm talking about...
My local bank got bought up and became a POS. I should have know when they started selling loans like crazy. Yeah, yeah I know capitalism and all that good stuff..... Hope this is all for the best. This is a pretty good site aside from when the children squabble....
PLEASE don't mess with the "Bikes" archive of old reviews. I consult it all the time. Do please update some of those old links on the home page. Maybe this will make MO even more international in flavor ?
Can we expect some Rupert Murdoch style stories like "Alien Baby Lives In My Tank Bag" ?
"The more ads you sell the lower the subscription fees. Marketing 101..."
--Channeling The Squid today?
But that is why I said either/or.
And yes, Magazines usually make very little to nothing off of the sticker price. The just want large circulation numbers to charge larger ad fees...which is why you occasionally hear about newspapers stretching their numbers.
...and I prefer the term Saleshole over sales geek...
