I Think I've Seen This Before

If I remember right, Suzuki came out with the VX800 back in the late-90s and it sold like dirt in Nebraska. If they'd added the TLR engine, it probably wouldn't have sold any better. So, what's the big deal? If I want to sit in style I'll buy a Barcelona Chair; otherwise I’ll save my money. Harley already has a sport bike/café racer, it just doesn't have an engine; they call it a Buell.

Re: The V-Rod for the rest of us!

The 3rd Rock's a what-zit and the Hammer's a thing-a-ma-jig, so I guess that's the going rate for who-knowswhat these days. If anyone out there wants to scratch their head for $16.5K, more power to 'em.

A move in the right direction. Enough? Don't think so, I saw an orange one today, and it does not look half bad, lets wait for a road test for a better idea of what it does. As far as price, HD gets away with just about anything as long as it has "the name" on it.

Agreed. Now, as for the 883, I would seriously consider one if they could get it to shed at least 50 pounds. 450 lbs dry seems like a reasonable goal.

GPTB love fest

So harley changes the pipes, pegs, and paint and you GPTB members get a Viagra like experience. It's not a new model for god's sake. The back end looks like a ripoff of a Yamaha Warrior. I think this a transition model for Harley. Noone of the Gen X and Gen Y is going to buy the traditional cruiser crap. So Harley has to ease into the new power cruiser stuff started by other manufacturers.

Bingo

This is exactly the bike I wanted Harley to build. I demoed a v-rod this summer and I hated it. The power (and power delivery) were very nice but with all that rake it was very floppy up to about 80k. I was dragging the pegs on gentle freeway off-ramps and had the exhaust down on a cloverleaf. With the rake tightened up and some more clearance it would have been a lot more fun. Voila.

As hard as it might be to believe, I don’t like being a killjoy. My dislike for Harley probably has something to with having "form-follows-function" and Frank Lloyd Wright drilled into my head from an early age. Couple that, with a good bit of Scandinavian DNA and anything less than elegant really annoys me. To me, buying a Harley is like paying for a Bang&Olafsen stereo and getting an old RCA radio. While the B&O is on permanent display at the New York Museum of Modern Art, the RCA belongs in the Museum of the Unexplained, along with the two-headed goat.

America’s love affair with Harley makes about as much sense as Christian Fundamentalism; it might be comforting for some, but it sure looks silly to me. If the Harley Faithful want to keep sending their love-offerings to the V-Twin Tabernacle in Milwaukee I sure hope they get rewarded in the hereafter, because they’re not getting much for their money in this lifetime.

No its not too late. Delete your cookies in your browser and go back an vote. longride has done it multiple times. I did it a few times. By the way despite what Sean says you don't have to be logged into MO to vote. There is no way for them to tell who is voting twice cause they ain't keeping track of IP addresses either. Depending on your network even IP can be variable within a range of values. So basically MO has no idea who is voting and how many times...Enjoy

Harley makes Red State Bikes

I wonder how Harley sales are by Red State vs Blue State. Since Red Staters are dumbies who watch Fox News, they think Iraq was behind 9/11, and have no idea what a budget deficit is: I bet more Harleys are sold in Red States per captia then Blue States. I would love to see a map of the US by Harley ownership. I bet it would look like that map Sean Hannity keeps putting up on FOX. By the way the war in Iraq is costing 1 billion per month. The total cost of the war on terrorism is $5 billion a month (Iraq and Afghan). Where is Bin Laden?
