Re: Why Ride When You Can Drive?

"Why on earth would anyone put a perfectly good motorcycle in a van or on a trailed inserted of riding it where they want to go. "

To take your track prepped, non-street legal bike to the racetrack, of course! But I normally just rent a trailer from U-Haul and tow it behind the work truck.

On a similar note, there is a guy riding around central Houston with a mountain bicycle on the back of his BMW GS. He apparently adapted a car top carrier to fit on his luggage rack. Pretty slick! I have to drive my car in to work on days when I want to mountain bike in the park after work.

Dong! We have a winner.

I'm surprised that VW doesn't offer a "70's Nostalgia Version". Complete with Captain America painted on the front, deadhead decals, peace symbols, flowers and marijuana leaves painted all over the rest. Oh yes.... don't forget the "Officer, please search me" license plate holder. Optionally included could be the longhaired doper chick from "Up in Smoke". I seem to recall that most VW Vans came standard with her or her clone.

Buzz? New ECOC opportunity here.

Can't wait to see these guys at my next track day!

So you're thinking that the HD crowd will be rolling their Springer Softails into a VW MultiVan for track days? Hadn't thought of that…

By the way, it takes me about 15 minutes to get my bike ready after I arrive at the track. All the time-consuming stuff (lockwire, glycol coolant drain, etc.) I do at home. When I get to the track, I just take off the soft luggage, take off the mirrors and side-stand, tape up the lights, pull a few bulbs & fuses, adjust the tire pressure, and have at it. Oh yeah, I also try to avoid the really bad crashes 'cause it's a long walk home!

This kinda crap ain't why we're killin' Iraqis. Ain't we a tough some-***** country? Slap a $20,000 anti-sissy tarrif on that piece a German dung. Let them YMCA Harley boys push their iron up the backside of a sissy- baby German if they must, but make it hurt. Us real men trailer our Harley hunks of manhood behind a proper F-350 power-stroker. Oh, my, I'm getting sweaty.

I have yet to see a harley on the track, but I have seen an assortment of dirt bikes and an st1100.

The crash potential is exactly why I take a truck. I figure I can beat Murphy if I put myself to enough trouble. Ride to the track? Crash and be stuck w/o a ride. Take a truck then don't need it.
