Since several older marques are copies of BMW's, I'll be looking for this new rear suspension next year, on Royal Enfields.

I refuse to believe that a company that still manufactures motorcycles so as to require guards for things as vital as cylinder heads, has any hope of changing anything for the better.

If there has ever been a dumber idea than the boxer twin I don't know what it is.

I have a friend that owns a BMW who would say that a V-Twin is dumber. He always points out that the rear cylinder on a V-Twin runs hot...He also claims that during WW2, Harley actually made Boxer twins for the miltary because of the heat problem. I don't know if this is true or not...... he just brings it up all the time...

Try riding one sometime. The boxer twins have a number of advantages that you are obviously unaware of. VWW

NO. There is never just one "best" solution. I'm not an engineer but even I know that. Of course, I mean that in the nicest way.

We won't know for a long time because with BMW's usual behavior of taking forever to fix any problems on their bikes I expect to see this suspension finally worked out in 2050.

This is another one of those "I don't get how it works" techno thingy's. Lets see, its filled with air, which gets compressed multiple times at random intervals. Air heats up when compressed (and forces moisture out of it). I see the performance of this suspension as being impossible to dial in. Its operation is going to change in different situations, and the moisture is going to accumulate inside, causing who knows what problems to operations (and possible rust/corrosion)

The bike is the neatest looking BMW, IMHO.

The telelever was left off for two reasons. It would not allow the longer wheel travel, nor the weight savings desired on the more offroad oriented HP2. VWW

Why do I need to ride one to know that it's stupid to hang cylinder heads out the sides? We're talking about a vehicle that leans as it turns. We we make a list of things not to scrap... cylinder head should be right at the top.

I've got 127,000 miles on my old GS and I've never scraped the cylinder heads once. Don't go giving me the old "your just not riding fast enough" line either. I've passed quite a few so called sport bike riders on the inside of some of our blind decreasing radius turns here in No. Cal., without sparks flying off of the valve covers. VWW

Those Krauts have always stolen Czech technology anyway (take the Tatra=VW Beetle connection for instance).

Let’s hope they don’t try and copy the CZ’s ignition system too. That would make the towrope a must have item again.
