VERY different niches...

The ZX-10R is an uncomfortable, uncompromising superbike. Its designed to go around a road-course racetrack at absolutely insane speeds.

The ZX-14 is a hypertourer: A long and low VFR fitted with a Transwarp drive. Its designed to blur the scenery on the Autobahn at an electronically limited 300 kph, and to post <10s drag-strip times out of the box.

Me, I'd get the ZX-14: Comfort counts, and if I want a track bike, thats what an EX250 is for.

State farm doesn't do THAT much bike underwriting, so they underwrite by displacement and try to cherry-pick good drivers.

Really, I believe State Farm just throws the bikes into one of 3 classes based on displacement, and goes from there.

I've been very happy with State Farm.

I use state farm as well. I don't have the paperwork where I can look at it now, but I 'think' my cost is in the neighborhood of $600 a year for full coverage. (00 k1200rs)

I've been with them for years (autos/home and buisness insured with them too) and have only filed one claim. (busted car window)

This is easy. If you are a girl or a beginer and want everybody to laugh at you because you can only handle an entry level bike, get the ZX-10R. If you're a man, get the ZX-14.

Pretty simple stuff.

As a licensed road racer I don't understand why one would want to spend an extra $300 for an extra 100 pounds of pork and relatively useless motor, along with vague handling and an unwillingness to bend into a turn. I also don't understand why anyone would ride a motorcycle on a public road, especially for long distances.

Now that the State Farm ads are done, I have to ask why anyone would insure a bike for $3000 TO $4000 a year. It's a bad investment. Ride a clunker, save a couple of years of insurance and start using their money! 2002 Concours and 2003 SV1000s = $380 a year... Now thats settled lets work on the cost of tires for these things that have the lfe span of a flash cube.

The way i read it, the zx-10r hit 166 hp on the dyno, while the zx-14 got 171 hp. Thats not a very large difference.

I am 6'4" and i find my zx-10r plenty confortable for long rides. Sure i cant feel my hands after an hour or so. But i love every minute.

What! The ZX14 is cool if your an over weight old man with carpal tunnel syndrome that likes to complain about numbing hands, "Wah, wah, wah, my hands and arms hurt, wish I had the ZX-14, I bet its more comfortable"
